Validus Holdings announced that it helped to sponsor the construction of two homes for those most in need as part of a Bermuda Overseas Missions (BOM) trip to Kerala, India in July this year.
Validus’ sponsorship supported BOM’s visit by 39 volunteers, including 24 students, to Idduki, Kerala, India.
The trip, which lasted 18 days, focused on helping to construct four homes for families in need in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
David Thompson, president of Bermuda Overseas Missions and leader for the trip, said in a press release: “Despite the heavy rains the team worked very hard to dig the foundations and build the walls of these homes.
“The team spirit was incredible as we worked together alongside the families that would benefit from this effort.
“We made many friends and hopefully changed their lives as well as our own outlook on how we view the world.
“We thank companies like Validus Holdings, Ltd for all their support not only financially but also the many clothes and toys they donated which we distributed to the families and orphanage we visited.”
Norma Trott, director of Human Resources of Validus, said: “Validus is delighted to support the efforts of our colleagues at Bermuda Overseas Missions and to sponsor the construction of two homes in India. Our donation reflects our belief in the core mission of BOM and its work to construct homes in communities where a critical need exists.”
