New Year’s Eve is hands down the biggest party night of the year.
Everyone gets dressed up, goes to dinner and then parties the night away.
This year, the place to be seems to be the newly renovated Pier Six Complex and there are two options — One is under the iconic structure at Golden Goddess with the other being downstairs in the cruise ship terminal at Champagne New Year’s Eve.
Mikaela Ian Pearman has spoken to the organisers of both events to get a sense of each party and what it will have to offer.
The only real question is ‘Which one will you choose?’
Golden Goddess party
Upstairs, Gregory Armstrong is throwing the glamorous Golden Goddess party complete with models wearing togas and gold body paint.
He describes it as the “party for everyone.
“We wanted to give off that kind of goddess experience. We’re going to have a lot of different things that people can expect.
“The models will be giving out a complimentary signature drink when people arrive.
‘There will be three bars. There will also be a photo station with a backdrop and a professional photographer.
“Obviously the main attraction is the newly renovated space and the tent. We will have the DJs on stage.
“There will be a VIP lounge area with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, favours and a champagne toast.
“There will also be bottle service. Exclusive Events is doing the décor in the VIP lounge.
“We will have love seats, couches and tables and a private bar. We are creating a whole lounge experience for those in VIP.”
Speaking on the entertainment for the night, Mr Armstrong said: “We’re featuring the Vibe Nation – DJ Chubb, DJ Keem and DJ Smokey.
“We also have DJ Hershey.
“We wanted a versatile flow. We wanted the music to be a variety.
“These DJs can give you a taste of everything — a little bit of reggae, rap and house music. There will be something for everyone.”
Armstrong is expecting partygoers to come “dressed to impress”.
“Come out in that attire we wear once a year. It should be a good feel coming out seeing the environment that we’ve created.
“It’s something you don’t want to miss to bring the New Year in.”
In addition to the complimentary signature drink on arrival, there will be drink specials from 9pm to 11pm.
There are also group rates and bottle service available. Both need to be arranged ahead of time.
Asked why partygoers should attend the event, Armstrong said people should come for the location and the ambiance.
“It’s the first opportunity for you to party in there. You always want to be the first. “You always want to experience that first feeling.
“I feel like we have pulled together a total package that everyone would enjoy value wise and entertainment wise.
Tickets for Golden Goddess are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP. They are available at Mambo, Kit and Caboodle and Jazzy Boutique.

Champagne New Year
Downstairs, Champagne New Year and will feature the official DJ of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Nathan Atcheson is part of the team organising the event and spoke to us about why it will be the place to be for New Year’s Eve.
The event will be held in the cruise ship terminal of Pier Six and is open bar with top shelf liquor.
“Most people probably haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy Pier Six’s newly renovated downstairs space and we’re excited to usher in a high-quality, unique, celebratory New Year’s experience.
“We love the venue for the simple reasons. It’s centrally located, lots of cabs around, secure entrances and loads of parking. There are also beautiful harbour views, an outdoor waterside dock with enough space for separate and covered, outdoor smoking areas and lots of indoor space to create nooks and crannies to explore.”
Asked about the atmosphere, Atcheson said: “Disneyworld for adults meets Vegas in Bermuda!
Transformed
“The indoors will be transformed with some of the best event-experience creators on the island.
“We don’t want to give away too much but think glowing bars, video walls, lounge sections, elevated DJ booths, light shows, dessert bars and surprise live entertainment.
“While outdoors think Harbourside Ultra-Lounge with roulette tables, chill couches, food stations and another full service, open-bar.
“Think ample spaces to play, dance and live a little or even better, a helluva lot!”
He said the entertainment will be “pure energy”.
“It will be headlined by one of the brightest talents in Toronto, DJ Agile, and he will be bringing it. All of it!
“He is the official DJ of the Maple Leafs, a five-time Juno nominee and a Much Music Video Award nominee, who hasmtravelled the Caribbean, North America and Asia to hold down parties as diverse as his city.
“There’s so much more to say about the entertainment, we’ll be dropping more info really, really soon, so stay tuned Bermuda.
“Part of what makes this experience unique is never having to go to your wallet.
“Our open-bar will absolutely feature top-shelf brands, fully staffed by the seasoned professionals at Gosling’s so no one will be thirsty for too long.”
Atcehson said the party appeals to a “mindset” rather than a demographic.
“Everyone seeking a memorable, fun, free-up experience with fresh faces and positive energy will have Champagne New Year on a very short list.
“We’ve pre-sold over a hundred tickets so far and by all indications looks to be really diverse cross-section of people attending.”
Atcheson said partygoers should make Champagne New Year their top choice because “We’ve all heard the underwhelming NYE stories of the same old, same old — same old venues, same old themes, same old faces. Well, not this year.
Fresh
“This party will be… fresh, fun, sexy, inviting, new and good times with great people will be the hallmarks of Champagne New Year.
“You don’t have to leave the island or stay at home this year!”
Tickets for Champagne New Year are $150 and student tickets are $125 until December 24. They are available at www.ptix.bm.
