RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum donates $10,000 to Women’s Resource Center
Bermuda-headquartered reinsurer RenaissanceRe today announced that the RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum has made a $10,000 donation on behalf of the Company to the Women’s Resource Center, a charity that offers counseling, education and support services to women.
The RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum was founded in January 2012 to provide networking, career development and leadership opportunities for women across the Company’s global locations. Since then, the Women’s Forum has hosted a series of 10 events - open to women and men - featuring speakers from RenaissanceRe and leaders in the insurance industry.
In November 2013, the RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum organized a networking event and asked participants to make a donation to the Women’s Resource Center, which has worked hard for over 25 years to make a difference in the lives of women in Bermuda. Like the RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum, the Women’s Resource Center is committed to empowering women by providing resources and education to support them.
Adria Richards, Assistant Vice President at RenaissanceRe and Chair of the Women’s Forum, said: “We’re thrilled that the participants of our networking event raised $10,000 for the Women’s Resource Centre. Our attendees were obviously inspired by the important work the Centre does in our community, and we also appreciate that our donations were matched by RenaissanceRe’s charitable giving program so that we could deliver a substantial contribution to this hard-working charity – especially in the holiday season. “
Patrice Frith Hayward, Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Center, who accepted the donation, said: “As a charity helping women in need, this donation from the RenaissanceRe Women’s Forum is both critical and greatly appreciated. In the context of the work we do every day with women in Bermuda, it’s wonderful to see a company like RenaissanceRe investing in their female employees and actively supporting their success. From all of us at the Women’s Resource Center, we thank the Women’s Forum at RenaissanceRe for this donation.”
RenaissanceRe strives to attract, develop, reward and retain the best team in the business, regardless of sex, race or background. The Company has long had a professional development program providing extensive resources to everyone on staff. Women at RenaissanceRe are making the most of career development opportunities like the Women’s Forum and, of the 2013 global promotions, about 50% were women. In December 2013, The Bermudian magazine’s annual Products and Services Awards named RenaissanceRe the “Best Company to Work For”, highlighting the Company’s strong culture that fosters success, values employees, and programs that helps the Bermuda community succeed.
