The Bermuda cast at the Caribbean Secondary School Festival in Barbados were outstanding this past week.

They performed Kim Dismont Robinson’s play, Emancipation: A Love Story, directed by Alan Smith.

The participation in the Festival was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and coordinated by The Bermuda Shakespeare Schools Festival.

Eight countries participated: Bermuda, Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, BVI, Barbados, Anguilla, St Vincent & the Grenadines.

On Thursday night our cast learned that they were chosen as one of the 3 best plays of the Festival so they did a repeat performance on Friday night.

There were awards presented this evening and they won the following:

Best Ensemble: Bermuda (Dylan Hollis, Marq Rodriguez, Marcus Smith, Tess Spencer, Ashanti Stovell, Treasure Tannock, Jade Weaver, India Wilson)

Outstanding Performance: Bermuda

Outstanding Acting Male: Marq Rodriguez

Outstanding Acting Female: India Wilson

Best Dancer: Marcus Smith

Best Use of Production Elements: Bermuda

Best Directing: Alan Smith

We are SO proud of them.  Not only did they perform well but they were brilliant ambassadors for Bermuda.

The students arrive back on the island Sunday, Dec.15th on American Airlines Fl.308 – 7:50pm.
