Bermemes are at it again.

They have collaborated with some of the island’s best young talent for their latest Christmas sing-along  — a version of Deck The Halls — and you can hear it live this evening. Hollywood Music in Media Award winner Kidd Classic (Jahroy Richards) is on the line-up for the latest production along with Dem Biez, Bad Current, Mike Hind, Gavin Smith, Najib Chentouf, Senator Jeff Baron and Tanaya Christopher. They will all sing the song at Ah Bermemes Crissmis at The Chewstick Lounge tonight.

You may remember their Bermy version of The Twelve Days Of Christmas last year which attracted two thousand hits online. They promise to perform that on the night as well.

Déjon Simons told the Bermuda Sun that the event would be the perfect end to a fantastic year that has seen the social media comics launch a website and garner a massive local and international social media following. “Well first off, let me just say last year was amazing!

“The idea for the Christmas song came to me in the morning while hearing the older Bermudian version of The Twelve days Ov Christmas on the radio. Hearing that automatically got ideas going to re-do it. I hit my boy KASE (Keamon Woolston) up, we met, wrote and produced the song in a day.

“KASE really worked his magic on that song which has over 2,000 hits online and is still getting shared around.”

This year, Bermemes worked more on the production/facilitating side of the process. The lyrics have been created by everyone involved and the young Bermudian group Dem Biez are behind the production of the song. “We are really excited about the turnout. The majority of those involved, met last week and we had a group writing session which lasted about four hours.

“As long as that sounds, it was fun — nothing but laughter and creativity the whole time.” The song is due to be be released online today and can be seen live this evening at the event which runs from at 8pm to 3am.

“Bakatahn (Back of Town) Santa” will be there and there will be prizes for the ugliest Christmas sweaters worn on the night.

Asked if the song would be released for sale, Simons said: “The songs we are creating are more focused on the fun factor and bringing Bermudians together. So, it will be free to download from online.”

Ah Bermemes Crissmiss takes place at the Chewstick Lounge on Friday evening from 8pm to 3am. Entry is $10.
