Established gospel singer VaShawn Mitchell is coming to Bermuda to headline a special Christmas Concert along with full host of local talent.
The Chicago-born singer is assistant music director of St Mark Baptist Church working closely with nationally renowned choir leader Lonnie Hunter.
He will join some nine other gospel and inspirational acts on stage at the Ruth Seaton James Centre on December 21 for Inter-Island Communication’s sixth concert of the year.
The parent company of HOTT 1075 decided to bring back the event following the success of its sell out gospel concert last year.
Local gospel and inspirational talent performing on the night are Tricray; Rickeesha Binns; Laritta Adderley; The Restoration Ministries and Seventh Day Adventist Praise Team; Calvin Busby; The Agape Faith Kingdom Ministries Praise Team; The Apex Tour; The Vernon Temple Praise Team and Williard ‘Will B’ Burch.
IIC Managing Director, Gwen Blakeney admitted it had been quite a challenge in meeting the company’s commitment to expose deserving local talent on such a frequent basis. She said: “We certainly wouldn’t have been able to sustain producing so much first class entertainment during live events throughout the year, had it not been for the incredible generosity and support of sponsors, as well as the public consistently turning out in huge numbers to every event. So it’s really been a blessing for everyone, especially the
local entertainers themselves who seldom get to show off their talents on a regular basis”
She added: “IIC Co-Founder Glenn Blakeney felt we should also feature an international act, so he went about securing VaShawn.”
IIC has produced six live events during the past year, which have predominantly featured talented Bermudian performing artists. It started with the Bermuda Idol Competition in March and will culminate in the Bermuda Gospel Concert. The show begins at 7pm at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for Performing Arts on Saturday, December 21.
