BHF Fed 6-3 BHF National team

BHF Federation got off to a blistering start in this men’s encounter.

Joe Fernandes scored his first field goal in the ninth minute and before the first half an hour was out, Richard Marriott and Andrew Brouwer had added to the tally.

BHF National’s Samuel Thompson dragged his side back into the game with a goal from the baseline just before half-time.

The National team were then awarded a penalty corner as a result of obstruction in the circle in the 42nd minute and Thompson duly scored his second goal.

James Morgan restored the Federation’s two-goal advantage in the 53rd minute but they were pegged back again by HF National Donovan Simmons scored a third field goal in the 65th minute by receiving a square pass on a run by Tyler Smith which was beautifully initiated from a skillful through-ball by junior Chris Pacheco.

BHF Federation Andrew Brouwer scored his second field goal in the 66th minute and three minutes later Joe Fernandes also completed his brace to seal a 6-3 win for the Federation team.

The BHF Federation key playmakers were Mark Finnigan and Fernandes, while the top BHF National player were Thompson and Simmons.

 

Bluebirds B 4-0 Longtails B

Bluebirds’ Kris Soares was awarded penalty strokes in the 19th minute of the first half and in the 67th minute of the second as a result of the ball hitting feet on both occasions to prevent the ball from going into the goal.

Bluebirds’ Nikki Murry-Mason scored both field goals in the 60th and 63rd minute of the second half.

The Longtail Canaries on the pitch were all juniors except for one senior player and the girls played really well despite not having a goalkeeper.

Maya Palacio, the captain, made many opportunities in the ‘D’, while other outstanding juniors were: Emma Kook, Rebecca Gibbons, Selina Whitter, Alex Barnes, Tihana Booth, Guisti Clarke, Shalika Robinson, Tiana Correia, Tiara Correia.

 

Budgies B 2-3 Swallows B

Swallows’ Elizabeth Steward scored the opening  goal after dribbling from the halfway line, beating a number of players, before taking a strike just inside the ‘D’ which was fired into the right hand corner of the goal.

Budgies’ Jaselle Smith then scored field goals in the 40th and 47th minute of the second half before

Swallows equalized via newcomer Sara Perdichizzi, in only her fourth hockey match, who tapped the ball in on the post.

Swallows’ winner was struck just a minute later in the 61st minute by Julie Hegarty after a cross by Elizabeth Stewart.

Hegarty and Stewart in the midfield were solid, while Kelli Nusum and Natasha Hallinan in the defence sent some great balls out of the Swallows defensive areas.

 

Ravens A 3-1 Budgies A

Budgies’ Jasmine Patterson scored a field goal in the 14th minute but Ravesn came storming back.  Alex Wheatley executed two penalty corners in the 58th minute and the 68th minute before Megan Troake wrapped up the win.

 

Canaries B 0-2 Ravens B

Ravens’ Ellie Rawlings scored a field goal seconds before the half time whistle and the win was completed by Isabela Boonstra.
