The bermuda.com 12 Days of Christmas is back this year with bigger and better deals.
The promotion, in its fourth year, offers shoppers discounts at various stores in Hamilton for certain time periods. It was launched at Brown & Co Monday morning.
Customers were able to receive 20 per cent off for a two hour time period from 12pm to 2pm.
Brown & Co general manager Nicole Warren said: “This is the kick off today and, if any indications of Black Friday carry on for the next few weeks, I think we’re going to have a successful sales season.”
Grant Gibbons, minister of Economic Development also spoke at the launch and encouraged everyone to shop local.
“As consumers, you have a choice. You can spend your dollars overseas, in which case, that money is lost to Bermuda or you can spend your dollars locally and the benefit of that dollar is multiplied.
“And spending those dollars locally will not only support jobs, it will enable retailers to keep prices lower, provide more variety and better service to all.”
“And while Bermuda shopping may never equal the Mall of America for size, I know that our retailers are working very hard to give you the experience and value you’re looking for.
“So please consider that one of the best gifts we can give to our friends and family this year is a contribution to the health of our Bermuda economy.
“Please buy locally, support your retailers and the thousands of fellow Bermudians who work in this industry.”
Glenn Jones, general manager of MediaHouse, the parent company of bermuda.com, which is a sister company to the Bermuda Sun, spoke on which retailers will be participating this year.
“For the first time we will have the Farmer’s Market. For the first time we will have an appliance company, Bermuda Gas and a restaurant, KFC.
“We will have something for literally everyone.
“We really love how this promotion seems to reinvent itself every year with new business types and new ideas.
“We’re also very proud that year after year, local businesses trust us to help them achieve their Christmas revenue targets.
“We take the responsibility for that very seriously.”
