I stood starring at my cellphone sitting in a watery grave at the bottom of my toilet.
It was just the latest in the long line of ways I’ve killed a phone through moisture.
I’ve dropped one into the bathtub; I’ve had one get too soaked from the rain sitting in my jacket; I’ve even managed to skillfully navigate one into a glass of water.
But all is not lost.
If your phone gets wet there is still some hope of resurrecting it — a trick I learned far too late.
Here is a how to have the best chance of saving your phone.
Get it out of the water as quickly as possible. The less wet it is, the better the chance you can save it.
Take out the battery and sim card.
Dry the phone, battery and sim card.
Place your phone in a container of rice and seal it. The rice will absorb the moisture from your phone.
Let it then sit for 24 hours before trying to turn it back on.
I’ve saved a couple of phones this way and, hopefully, if your phone gets ‘baptised’, you’ll be able to save yours as well.
