The ‘Inspiration’ Scholarship awards artistically gifted students with financial assistance to pursue academic goals in performing and visual arts. Capital G is proud to offer this opportunity to encourage academic excellence in the arts for Bermudian youth.
Eligible applicants were aged 13 to 18 years old and enrolled in a public or private middle school, senior school or university with demonstrative talent in the visual or performing arts.
“It is a tremendous honour to once again recognize the phenomenally artistic youth in our community,” said Capital G Senior Vice President of Marketing Michael DeCouto. “On behalf of the entire Capital G staff, we are pleased to uphold the Gibbon’s family legacy of ‘Giving Back’ to youth development and education in Bermuda.” He continued, “We wish this year’s award recipients the greatest in academic success and encourage them to aim high to reach their goals and dreams.”
The 2013 ‘Inspiration’ Scholarship honorees are:
• Rory Wilson, London School of the Dramatic Art (London, England)
Visual and Performing Arts
From visual art creation to on stage performance, Rory has a great eye for visual art, illustrated by his amazing work and incomparable portfolio.
• Kioshi Burgess, William Patterson University (New Jersey, USA)
Dance, Vocal Arts, Performing Arts
Kioshi is an award-winning choreographer and world-class performer, destined to excel in the performing arts industry.
• KaVon Busby, Bermuda College (Bermuda)
Vocal Arts (Rap)
KaVon is passionately driven to succeed in an art form that merges the tales of life with the poetry of sound – the art of Rap.
• Jasmine Cooke, University of Southampton (Winchester, England)
Photography, Graphic Arts Illustration
With an amazing eye for photography along with a surreal imagination, Jasmine Cooke is already a legend in the making.
• Joshua Snelling, Royal Alexandra and Albert School (Surrey, England)
Film Production, Editing
There are bright lights and Hollywood cameras in Joshua’s future as he continues to hone his production skills to become an accredited filmmaker.
• Quinn Outerbridge, Dellwood Middle School (Bermuda)
Vocal Arts, Guitar, Dance
At the tender age of 12, Quinn has a very mature voice and has the potential to grow into an exceptional vocalist.
The ‘Inspiration’ Scholarship is one part of a four-part youth development programme that was conceived to enhance the arts, early childhood development and sustainable giving.
