Applications for Bienniel available
The application for the Bermuda National Gallery’s Biennial are now available.
The deadline for the 2014 Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Bermuda is Friday December 6, 2013.
This year’s show marks the eleventh exhibition which this year will be juried by reputable international curators Isolde Brielmaer (Savannah College of Art & Design) and Amanda Couson (Director, National Gallery of Bahamas).
For the first time, the Biennial will have a theme —View From The Edge.
“The island edge is at once limitless and limited. How do we transcend restriction or embrace limitation? In what ways are we both bounded and connected, living in confinement and paradise, experiencing insularity and resilience? The 2014 Biennial invites artists to address how the physical reality of an island informs one’s identity.”
Artists are invited to submit up to five new artworks and must be over 18-years-old from December 31, 2012. The show is open to all who have been resident in Bermuda for six months. Work must be available for viewing during the week of February 10, 2014. Applications are available online at www.bng.bm or from BNG, City Hall.
