With a little help from Uncle Tony
Location: Tavern by the Sea, Water Street, St George’s.
First impressions: “There’s a great view over the water to St David’s, where my house is. The waiter was friendly but not overly friendly. It’s best to be friendly.”
Drink: Shirley Temple [$4]: “Good”.
Starter: Bruschetta [$6.50]. “Fantastic. It has a nice crunch. And the meat and cheese taste great.”
Service: “The food came quickly. I don’t know what to say about our waiter...he was okay.”
Main course: Spaghetti Bolognaise [$19.50]. “It looks really pretty with the olives on top. Tastes good.”
Portion size: “It’s quite a size — even for a grown-up.”
Overall experience: “It’s a nice restaurant and don’t be afraid to take your kid. But stick with what you know — I have been here before and I had fish. Choose the local dishes like fish.”
