The Bermuda Police Service is  celebrating  a 15 medal haul from the recently concluded World Police and Fire games that took place in Belfast Northern Ireland from August 1stto August 10th . The  Team consisted of Bowlers, Cyclist, Golfers and participants in Track and Field. Fourteen  local  athletes took part with 2 team managers (Sergeant Fiona Miller and Superintendent James Howard).

Superintendent James  Howard Stated: “ Seeing our Police Athletes compete on the World Stage was a phenomenal experience, for our size, we had a dominant presence both in sport and socially.  We had everyone saying “Feel the love” and singing the praises of our beloved island home.”

Commissioner Michael Desilva along with the Senior Command of the Bermuda Police Service met with the Athletes to thank them for their service to the BPS and the Island of Bermuda.  The Commissioner stated, “ I am proud of all 14 of the persons who represented the BPS and Bermuda on a whole  at the World Police and Fire Games, you are fine ambassadors and we are truly thankful.”

There were fourteen (14) athletes and two (2) support personnel that attended the World Police & Fire Games in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and they are:

• PC Dennis Joell – Bronze Medal (Track & Field 200m)

• PC Dennis Joell – Bronze Medal (Bowling-Individual Men’s)

• PC Dennis Joell – Bronze Medal (Bowling-Doubles w/Ex-PC Wesley Robinson)

• Ex-PC Wesley Robinson – Bronze Medal (Bowling-Doubles w/PC Dennis Joell)

• Insp. Emmerson Carrington – Silver Medal (Bowling-Mixed Doubles w/PC Bianca Glasford)

• PC Bianca Glasford – Silver Medal (Bowling-Mixed Doubles w/Insp. Emmerson Carrington)

The Bermuda Police Service was very well represented at an event that hosted countries from around the world.  The next World Police & Fire Games will be held in Fairfax, Virginia in 2015.
