Appleby raised $3,758 for two local charities in the lead-up to the Cup Match holiday.
Employees participated in a charity drive over two weeks in July in support of their favourite Cup Match team.
Team Somerset supporters raised funds for Bermuda Diabetes Association and Team St. George’s supporters for Family Centre.
The competition saw staff making donations to wear Somerset and St George’s team ribbons and initiating other fundraising activities, which included a Team Somerset-themed bake sale with homemade items in red and blue colours, and Team St. George’s supporters participating in a raffle draw for several donated prizes from local businesses.
Team St. George’s were declared the champions.
Bermuda Managing Partner and head of Appleby’s Charitable & Social Responsibility Committee Kiernan Bell said in a press release: “Our captains, Seth Darrell for Team St. George’s and Jarion Richardson for Team Somerset, did an amazing job and it was a lot of fun.
“Staff donations for two incredibly worthwhile charities totaled $1,879 and the Partners were pleased to match this, resulting in a donation of $2,196 to Family Centre by Team St. George’s and $1,562 to Bermuda Diabetes Association by Team Somerset.
“Congratulations to our St. George’s fans whose victory was well-deserved. We will make sure that our Charity Drive Cup is on display throughout the year.”
