With a little help from Uncle Tony
Location: The Beach House at Blackbeard’s, next to Fort St Catherine.
First impressions: “Very welcoming. A sunny, happy place.”
Drink: Shirley Temple: “Very good”.
Starter: Calamari [$15]. “I liked it a lot and really enjoyed the sauce [mayo with Schezwan].”
Service: “Our waitress [Shirley Baker] was very happy and that’s how a Bermudian waiter or waitress should always be. Always have a smiley face.”
Main course: Bermy Burger [$15]. “I asked for relish but there was no relish for the burger. But it was yummy. The fries were okay.”
[The waitress thoughtfully suggested that Cheddar cheese would be more suitable than the Gruyere which they normally use on the Bermy Burger].
Portion size: “I couldn’t eat it all. They should make kid sizes, too.”
Overall experience: “I would recommend [The Beach House] to tourists and to a lot of locals, too. If you’re in St George’s and looking for a happy place close to the beach, come to the Beach House.”
