BELCO promotes healthy work environment

Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) is holding its first Health, Safety and Environment Week, April 29 –May 3.  The week, which demonstrates BELCO’s commitment to promoting a healthy, safe and environmentally conscious work environment, coincides with the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work, as well as Environment Day.

The week-long programme, being led by BELCO’s Occupational Health, Safety and Environment department, is themed Preventing Illnesses, Injuries and Incidents.  The week features demonstrations, competitions and seminars for staff on topics such as “General Lifting and Handling”, “Health and Wellness” and a “Green Workplace” presentation by Judith Landsberg, President of Greenrock.  Representatives from St. John Ambulance will also offer blood pressure and glucose testing for employees.
