The Premier, the Hon. L. Craig Cannonier, JP,MP., will attend the 49th Annual Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Conference & Exhibition in Los Angeles, California - April 21-24, 2013. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. E.T. Bob Richards, JP, MP., and the Minister of Business Development, Dr. the Hon. Grant Gibbons, JP, MP.
Nearly nine thousand risk management and insurance professionals are expected to attend the Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center to receive relevant information regarding a myriad of topics related to the risk and insurance industry. Bermuda will also be represented by members of the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Business Bermuda, ABIC and ABIR. This occasion will serve as the first time that Premier Cannonier will attend in his capacity as Premier of Bermuda.
Premier Cannonier said, “I’m very excited to be here at RIMS to represent Bermuda and generate further interest in doing business in Bermuda. It’s a wonderful opportunity to network with people from all across the United States who are shopping for the best – and we’ve got it. With the theme ‘Give Yourself an Edge’, this year's RIMS Conference will offer attendees over 100 sessions covering 11 categories, designed to make them better risk managers. Premier Cannonier will attend a number of reinsurance and captive sessions and conduct interviews with local and foreign media including the newly appointed Editor-in-Chief of Risk Management Magazine, Dan Reynolds, as well as the Head of Content Provider for Global Risk, Anthony Murtagh.
The Premier will also address attendees at the Bermuda Reception, visit the Bermuda Booth and conduct the traditional Convention walk-about.
Important topics for Conference attendees include ‘insuring intellectual and intangible property risks: critical issues for risk professionals’ and ‘managing cyber risk: how to keep your data safe’
Other highlights of this year’s conference include Simon Sinek, author of Start with why: how great leaders inspire everyone to take action, will be the general session keynote speaker on April 22. His goal is to create a world where the majority of people go home each day feeling fulfilled by their work, and he brings his optimism to inspire action.
