The City of Hamilton today announced the relaunch of the City of Hamilton Street Buskers program. Local artists are invited to participate.

Making the announcement was Events and Project Manager, Ms. Danilee Trott who stated, “With the summer season approaching, this is a great time to reintroduce the City of Hamilton’s street buskers program. We are relaunching this initiative in order to bring it to the attention of the many talented local artists who are interested in street performances.”

Ms. Trott continues, “The application process is simple: the application form is on the City’s website at www.cityofhamilton.bm. The forms can also be found on the front counter in the City Hall administration offices. An interested performer should complete and return the form, pay a nominal $25.00 fee and will be given a permit for the rest of the year. The permit will enable the applicant to perform in one of five city locations: Nellie’s Walk, Wesley Square, Dr. EF Gordon Square, Waterfront Square and Queen Elizabeth Park.

“While the artists cannot solicit funds, they are able to put out a hat and passersby can show their appreciation for the talent on display. It is our hope that Hamilton, like many cities around the world, will have live performers playing music throughout the day enhancing the city experience for residents, workers and visitors alike.”

Ms. Trott concluded, “We are looking for singers, visual artists, musicians, and spoken word artists. We would even consider dancers for the City Buskers program. I encourage everyone to consider participating in this exciting opportunity.”
