Bermuda Home Care-Giving Services has been renamed Atlantic Caregiving Services.
The company is a division of Bermuda Executive Services and was launched in mid-2012 to meet the growing need for home caregiving in Bermuda as the population ages.
Dawn Zuill, BES president, said in a press release the recent announcement by the Bermuda Health Council that there needs to be a reduction in the number of people in the Acute Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital — at an individual cost of $30,000 per month — helped to highlight the need for home caregiving in Bermuda.
She said: “We recognized that as the population ages, there will be a growing demand for home caregiving, not only because the supply of nursing homes and medical care is limited and expensive, but also because there are clear health benefits and cost savings associated with people being able to remain in their homes.
“The burden of care for seniors often falls on family members or paid caregivers and the emotional and physical strain on the caregiver can be very debilitating.
Atlantic Caregiving is coordinated by Rebecca Dunkle, a registered nurse with six years experience in caregiving and community care. Atlantic Caregiving can be found at www.atlanticcaregiving.com . Inquiries can also be sent to [email protected] or at 292-9690.
