LETTERS

Letter: Was it necessary to say 'white and wealthy?'

Dear Sir,I write to voice my disappointment about the characterisation of the audience on the Bermuda Festival in the concluding paragraph of the piece by Sirkka Huish.

Letter - 'Make a stand: We should go hungry instead of giving in to evil'

I think it's important to determine whether or not crimes are really driven by economic woes.

Letter - Why do protests focus on seals? Is it just because they're cute?

While the sight of "helpless" baby seals who "don't know what to be afraid of" makes for sympathetic eco-grandstanding [Vessel rammed while protesting seal hunt, Bermuda Sun April 9], I wonder if Ms [Laura] Dakin and those aboard the Farley Mowat feel the same about the harvesting of all other …

Letter - It's a building alive with the vibrant activity of young people

I do not think Alexandrina Hall should be demolished.

Letter - Burchall's rant made no sense

If the Past is the past and it's a big con to even talk about it [BDA Sun, April 30], why all this concern about getting rid of the past [BDA Sun, May 2] if it can do nothing to help us change the present?

Letter - Burchall is right on the mark

I feel the passion in the writings of Larry Burchall's editorial in your paper

Letter - Loss of licence the right call for pilot

In the spirit of the punishment fitting the crime, I support the decision [Ferry pilot who was intoxicated loses licence for two years, BDA Sun, May 2] more or less as has been reported.

Letter - What a load of horse s**t!

Why is it that horse owners/riders in the Shelly Bay area are exempt from picking up their horse's poop when I, as a responsible dog owner, always pick up my dog's poop?

Letter - Lindo's earns praise from BEST

The Bermuda Environment and Sustainability Taskforce (BEST) congratulates Lindo's Market for its bold decision to discontinue using disposable shopping bags and institute the exclusive use of reusable bags.

Letter - Is the gombey culture to blame?

According to your columnist Larry Burchall's logic, since Oprah Winfrey is a millionaire he believes that all black Americans could also become the same?

Letter - Sir John Swan never drove a Benz

I am writing to correct a statement which was made in the Bermuda Sun on July 4, 2008, page 5 to be specific.

Letter - I recall Ashfield travelling on the public purse

The campaign in which you and the Gazette have united against Dr. Brown is a psychologist's dream.

Letter - 'We allowed him to stay on the boat'

The article 'I just want somewhere to call home' (July 23) was brought to my attention this morning and after reviewing I thought it important that I respond to allow your audience access to the facts as they relate to the BLDC and Mr. Chasty.

Basic gov't. services are poor

I lived in the U.K. for a number of years and I see parallels with how the Bermuda Government deals with a crisis.

Letter - It's not about the plight of women, it's about the plight of children

In your front page story last week, Sheelagh Cooper paints broad strokes, labelling "thousands" of fathers in Bermuda as paying inadequately due to "lenient magistrates".
