Irate petitioner: 'Dunkley's lucky my father isn't around'

Petition organizer Cindy Swan said Premier Michael Dunkley did a “dishonourable thing” in the House of Assembly and it was too late for him to apologize to her.

In February, the then-Deputy Premier was heard saying on a hot mic: “Starling, Kim Swan, and Cindy Swan, were talking to ZBM on camera for about ten minutes, and I thought to myself, ‘what a waste of f***ing film.”

Mrs Swan said he did a “dishonourable thing” which was “caught on the Hansard tape, effing us off…

“He has yet to apologize to me and it’s too late now. If I had effed off a policeman I probably would have been taken to task and been taken in.

“But the Premier and the former Deputy Leader can eff a female off and not have the courtesy or do the hounorable thing — he apologized in sequence to Jonathan (Starling) first and then to my husband (Kim Swan), but I, as a female in this country, am feeling very, very disenchanted when a man can eff a lady off and not apologize.”

Mrs Swan said Premier Dunkley was lucky her father was no longer alive “because my father would come down from wherever he was and take care of him personally. He is very lucky that my husband is a gentleman and always seems to take the higher road.”

Premier Dunkley said: “I have no comment. Although it’s very tempting for me, I have no comment.”

Mrs Swan later said: “I would like to remind the female voters of Bermuda that the Premier of Bermuda refused to apologize to a female that he had effed off and he publicly refused to apologize.”
