What's 'appening: A waste of time

If there was ever an app that’s a pointless waste of time more of Make it Rain: For the Love of Money, I’d like to know what it is.

The game hit #2 in the free iTunes app store and, as of Monday, was still in the top 10.

The game features a stack of bills with a money counter above it. While you are playing, cash rains down from the top to keep the money counter clicking along.

You can increase the rate the money falls from the skies by purchasing piggy banks (small increases) to honey laundering (big increases). 

You can also increase a bucket that fills up automatically through investments such as a run for class president (small cash flow) to junket bonds (large cash flow).

A third way to earn extra cash is to use your finger and swipe furiously to temporarily increase your cash flow.

At random intervals during the game you could get zapped by an FBI investigation with a money seizure, which affects cash flow and takes an amount of money in your bank, or various other penalties.

It’s one of those games where you keep grinding out a level to reach the next one, where you then grind out to make the next one and so on. 

There’s no thinking involved; no real strategy; no interactive game play.

When you open the app, it may give you one of three Biblical quotes, such as “The love of money is the root of all evil” or “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

It could have paraphrased Proverbs and said “A fool and his time shall soon be parted.”

This is a game that you should avoid at all costs.
