Kyle Webb has broken the Bermuda junior 400m record at the NJCAA Region Track & Field Championships at Riggs Stadium, Mesa Community College, Arizona.

Webb ran a time of 46.91 seconds in the heats and won the finals in 46.89. The previous record was held by Shaquille Dill, who clocked a time of 47.16.

On top of this performance, Webb also won the 200m in a time of 21.19, winning that event as well.

Bruce Degrilla ran 10.94 in the 100m in the heats and placed eighth in the finals in a time of 11.07.  Bruce also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 7.50m — the winner recorded a jump of 7.53m.

Degrilla and Webb were both representing Central Arizona State College.

Meanwhile, the BNAA are pleased to announce the team that will be representing Bermuda in the upcoming inaugural IAAF World Relay Event in the Bahamas on May 24-25. Aaron Evans, Dill, Lamont Marshall and Trey Simons will represent Bermuda in the 4 X 800m.

BNAA president Donna Watson said in a press release: “We are very excited about this event and look forward to the team participating.

“There will be multiple races for the 4X800m as there is no qualification standard and the winner of the event will be based on time. Of course, we will be up against some tough nations like Kenya who would be favored in this event.”
