Students at CedarBridge Academy will bring together a series of live performances as part of their GCSE Dance this weekend. The Dance Students will host a show To Live is to Dance on May 9, 2014 at 7pm at Ruth Seaton James Auditorium.
Wanda Maxwell, dance instructor for CedarBridge Academy explained: “The students choose the title To Live is to Dance because to them, dancing is stress release and dancing provides therapeutic escape into movement
allowing them to freely create an
expression.”
The CedarBridge students will perform their choreography as a solo as well as performances as a duo and in group. The pieces students have chosen include professional work by Rosas Danst Rosas — a modern dance, and the work of Belgium choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. The students began with the same three movements motifs and developed them to create movement phrases, and with the direction and facilitation of Ms Maxwell, the students develop their choreography and structured and dances to create the original. The showcase starts at 7pm.
Tickets for the Dance concert on May 9, 2014 are $15 general admission and $30 for patrons. Persons can get tickets at the can call the ticket office at 7045959 or CedarBridge Academy at 2965665 ext 2112.
