JetBlue
The airline has increased the number of cities in which you can use a mobile boarding pass.
It already was available at JFK, but if you are hitting connectors elsewhere, it is good in 45 cities, including the popular Fort Lauderdale airport.
Fort Lauderdale Airport
Speaking of which, the South Florida airport alternative to Miami is going through an expansion.
There’s a lot of construction inside the terminal, which is helping clog the walkways, but more importantly, it has started construction on a $791 million, 8,000-foot runway.
The new runway will allow for it to handle more flights — the more flights it handles, the more competition, which should help bring the price down.
The runway is expected to be competed in September.
Hertz
Staying in southern Florida, Hertz rental car agency is offering deals for both the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas. A one-week car rental can be had as low as $105 (economy class) up to $199 a week for minivans and standard SUVs. All rentals come with unlimited mileage. The deal is good from now through September 30.
