There is a difference between God and gods

There is a difference between God and gods
There is a difference between God and gods

The truth is that either you will be a nation under God or a nation under law. Law is not necessarily sinful or evil; it is simply a lower standard to live by. The highest standard to live by is God’s love.

Pharaoh lived by the law of the gods.

He ran his nation by various gods who he felt would meet his needs and the needs of the people of Egypt. Some of Pharaoh’s gods were: Ra ––The Sun god, Amun –– The Father of Life, Horus –– The Solar god of War and Childbirth, Thoth –– The god of wisdom and writing.

Whatever Pharaoh stood in need of, he used his resources to get the job done. Pharaoh empowered idols or images established by mankind.

On the other hand, you have Joseph who worshipped the one and the only true and living God.

Joseph was faithful to the God of his youth, who had given him a dream that he was yet waiting to come true.

Recall that Joseph was a Dreamer. The very reason Joseph found himself in Egypt was because of the dreams he had in his younger years. Joseph did not stop dreaming. Not only was Joseph blessed to dream, but as he got older he also was blessed of God to be able to interpret dreams.

In the prison, seemingly Joseph was forgotten. Yet, it must be understood that God has established that you will be used of Him; therefore, your current condition is really a part of your transition.

Pharaoh had two dreams, and he could not forget them; he could not put them away from his memory.

Therefore, he sought after the person who could interpret his dreams. Who was that person? Joseph.

One more time we see that God will work all things out for your good. The butler had forgotten Joseph, but God had not forgotten him.

Now that the Pharaoh (king) was bothered, those who served him were also bothered. An unhappy king makes for an unhappy kingdom, and that was when the butler remembered Joseph.

Interpretations

Pharaoh had idols at his service, but those idols made with men’s hands could not help him with a dream that was God-given.

Pharaoh had many people at his service that would normally speak to him concerning his dreams and they would also speak into his future.

Yet this time, not one of Pharaoh’s servants could help him. Those dreams and the interpretations were beyond them.

With all of the gods, sorcerers, and soothsayers at his service, there was no one who was able to interpret the meaning of Pharaoh’s dreams.

It was at that moment that the butler recalled Joseph, the prisoner. Just as Joseph had correctly interpreted his dreams, he knew that Joseph would be able to do the same concerning Pharaoh’s dreams.

Genesis 41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art.

Pharaoh knew something very important. He knew that his gods had no spirit. Pharaoh knew that his idol-gods could do nothing to meet his need.

Yes, God will often take you to a place where you will have to figure out the very same thing that Pharaoh did.

You will have to understand that there is a mighty difference between idols and the Spirit of God.

When you meet up with an unsolvable situation, the only one that can help you is the living God. Everything else that you depend upon will fail.

Pharaoh may not have worshipped God, but Pharaoh was intelligent enough to honour and respect God.

There is something different between God and gods. Only God can do the impossible and set your mind and heart at ease.

Because Joseph stayed under the care and direction of the Spirit of God, he was able to gain favour and his situation turned around for good, not only himself, but also for the good of the entire nation of Egypt.

When God brings you through your challenges, he will bless you and make you a blessing to others. RESPICE FINEM.
