He remains in police custody and a court appearance is anticipated in due course.

The police also issued the following warnings:

Apparent Trend in Recent Residential Burglaries

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise residents that several burglaries have occurred lately in various parishes. An apparent trend in recent reported burglaries is that the offender(s) have smashed glass windows or doors to gain entry and conduct an untidy search of the premises.

As a result if breaking glass is heard in any neighbourhood, it should be reported immediately to the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Members of the public should also report any suspicious activity seen in their neighbourhoods, in particular suspicious individuals and vehicles entering or leaving the area.

Residents should continue to secure their homes by ensuring all windows and doors are locked before leaving their property unattended. Similarly, air conditioning units should be secured and it is recommended that all valuables are kept in a safe or safety deposit box if possible.

For further crime prevention advice, please visit the official Bermuda Police Service website www.bermudapolice.bm and select ‘Crime Prevention Info.’

Remain Vigilant For Motorcycle & Auxiliary Cycle Thieves

Members of the public are reminded to secure their motorcycles and auxiliary cycles using the handlebar lock as well as a supplementary lock before leaving them unattended and to report any suspicious persons or activity around parked cycles in their neighbourhoods. It is believed that cycle thieves may be working in small groups, and are likely using trucks to transport the stolen cycles.

Persons with relevant information regarding the whereabouts of suspected stolen motorcycles, auxiliary cycles or suspected stolen cycle parts should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
