The City of Hamilton today announced the unveiling and dedication of the Walter Maddocks Memorial Rotary clock celebrating 90 years of rotary service in Bermuda scheduled for Friday, March 14, 2014 at 12 noon at the steps and forecourt of City Hall.
Making the announcement was City of Hamilton Mayor, Mr. Graeme Outerbridge who stated, “On behalf of the Corporation and elected board, we are thrilled to be included in the opportunity to create a new City landmark which commemorates a stellar organization committed to helping others and their 90 years of service to Bermuda. Dr. George Cook, Chairman of the Rotary 90th Anniversary Committee, added, “We are very pleased to collaborate with the City on this venture and hope the clock will be of ongoing service to the City of Hamilton and the people of Bermuda. We are also pleased we can honour Mr. Walker Maddocks for his great service to rotary in Bermuda.”
Mayor Outerbridge concluded, “I thank the City of Hamilton team who worked endlessly ensuring this new landmark was completed in time for the unveiling, and lastly I must thank the Rotary 90th Anniversary Committee for allowing the City to be a part of this great moment in their history.”
Members of the public along with visiting Rotarians, local Rotarians and friends are invited for an early afternoon of entertainment. The unveiling and dedication of this piece strives to engage the interest of Bermuda’s general public in the role of the Rotary Clubs of Bermuda locally and internationally, to promote Rotary in Bermuda with a display of Rotary principles and regalia.
