I have tried for the longest time not to write anything about Keeping up with the Kardashians but now, I feel like I have to.
I won’t admit to watching the new season per se, but it has been on in the background while I’m on the internet or folding clothes, etc. This past week, however, I actually watched it and it’s still the same mess I left behind a few seasons ago.
First a disclaimer — I used to watch the Kardashians until Kim’s fiasco of a wedding a couple years ago. That’s when I decided everything about it was fake and I moved along and found new shows, for example, those on Bravo.
Nevertheless, this past weekend, viewers saw Khloe opening up about her crumbling marriage to basketball player Lamar Odom.
The episode shows Khloe finally making the decision to leave Lamar — whose trouble with drugs and strippers have been reported in tabloids for at least the last six months.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Khloe and Lamar’s relationship, they got married in November 2009 after dating for four weeks. The wedding was televised and everyone thought it would fail.
Problems and rumours
Surprisingly, they have lasted four years, despite fertility problems, his basketball problems and then all the cheating rumours. So, weirdly enough I am sad that Khloe and Lamar couldn’t make it work.
I know it couldn’t have been an easy decision because divorce is never an easy decision, but especially when you are in the public eye, I imagine it’s ten times worse. Not only the whole celebrity thing but this family chooses to live its life on TV so to me, they have exploited this divorce for their own gain.
I’m sure their ratings were up even if the whole scene was scripted, which I’m pretty sure it was.
The sad part is Khloe really stuck by Lamar even after all his mistresses gave interviews to various tabloids.
It seemed she only threw in the towel when an offensive rap about her was released by someone in Lamar’s camp with Lamar spitting the lyrics. Oh, and the fact that he checked himself out of rehab.
What’s the saying — you can lead the horse to water but you can’t make him drink?
The most bizarre part was at the end of the episode when there was a black and white montage “in memory” of Lamar. It was almost identical to the one they did for Scott Disick’s mom last week, except she died.
