*The record-breaking retweet of Ellen DeGeneres’ star-studded Oscar selfie raised her Klout score from 92.8 to her new personal high of 95.1.
Jon Dick, head of marketing for Klout, wrote in the Official Klout Blog, that her tweet had an affect on all those who participated. If you just retweeted it, you got a little bit of a bump.
He wrote: “Most interestingly, people who replied to the tweet with their own thoughts got more reactions from their followers. This resulted in an average Klout Score increase of 4.5x that of those who just retweeted it. This goes to show how important it is to create original content.”
He also wrote: “For those of us who don’t share Ellen’s excellent dance moves, the impact of 3 million retweets would be much higher. If you were a fairly active social media user with a Klout Score of 50, this tweet would have increased your Score to a whopping 77.”
In Bermuda, both Will Black and the Elbow Beach Resort, have Klout scores of 50, and would have seen their scores zoom with that kind of attention.
The average Klout score needed to make Bermuda’s top 25 social media influencers list continues to rise. The list now cuts off at 60, when 50 used to be a good enough score to make it.
For the first time, a politician has made the list as Michael Dunkley delivered a score of 61. The Bermudian also made the list for the first time with a score of 60.
Scores in the top 25 on the rise this month include: Dejon Simmons (+5), Karriem Sharrieff (+4), Zenji Ingham (+4), Fairmont Southampton (+2), Lexy Correia (+2), Michael Dunkley (+1), Patrick Caton (+1), and Crystal Holdipp (+1).
Scores that decreased: Clare O’Connor (-4), Clifton Webb (-2), Nahki Wells (-2), John Layfield (-1), Hannah Collins (-1) and Bermuda Tourism (-1).
Falling off the list this month were Digicel Bermuda (60 to 57), Nothing to Do in Bermuda (57 to 58) and Graham Maule (56 to 59).
If your score is higher than 60 and should have been on the list, e-mail or tweet Don Burgess at [email protected] or @DonatBDASun to let him know. It will be added to next month’s list of names to be looked at for the rankings.
