Double tragedy: 'A daughter of St George's'

Islanders have been truly shocked by the deaths of Myron Anthony Robinson and Regina Robinson, pictured above — and none more so than those who were close to the couple.

As experts set about determining exactly how they died, it is clear from what we know so far that something awful happened at the couple’s Wellington Slip Road home. Rumours are rife about what transpired but until autopsies are complete, no-one knows for sure. 

What is certain is that two people, who were well-loved and in the prime of life, will be sorely missed.

She was a “daughter of St George’s” who was popular and well-known throughout the town.

Those who knew Regina Robinson have been paying tribute since they learned of her death on Monday.  

Community leaders joined her employers, Amlin Bermuda, in fondly remembering the 48-year-old mother-of-two.

PLP Senator Renee Ming said: “This particular situation is extremely sad for me as I am speaking of my family. Myron was my cousin and I grew up with and spent my adolescent years in the Welch home with Regina and her family.

“Both Myron and Regina were well known within St. George’s and each was very well liked.”

Former St George’s MP Kim Swan, told the Sun: “I have known Regina’s family for most of my St George’s life and before.

“She is from a very well known family in the town.

“I knew her grandmother and grandfather very well. They would often breakfast at the golf course.

“She was very much a St George’s person.

“You would see her at the cricket and all around town. Everyone knew her.”

Mr Swan added: “She was a very caring person, and a very loving mother. People thought a lot of her and she always had a nice word to say about everyone.

“The whole community of St George’s has been shocked and stunned by what has happened.

“I have been in touch with the family to offer my condolences.

“This is traumatic on so many different levels and my heart goes out to the families involved in this.

“This tragedy has far- reaching effects for the families having to grapple with the circumstances as well as the void that it leaves behind.”

Mrs Robinson was born and bred in St George’s and was the niece of well-respected Pilot Warden Eddie Welch.

She studied at the Berkeley Institute and Bermuda College.

Mrs Robinson had two grown-up children from a previous marriage.

She worked at Bersalon in St George’s some years ago and joined the reinsurance underwriting business, Amlin Bermuda, in October 2006 as a senior accounts assistant.

In the summer of 2008 Mr and Mrs Robinson were married at Fort St Catherine’s in the east end.

Rob Wyatt, Amlin Bermuda’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “On behalf of everyone at Amlin Bermuda, I would like to express our sadness at yesterday’s [Monday’s] tragic events.

“We are all deeply shocked at the loss of a much-loved colleague. 

“Regina was a cherished member of our Amlin Bermuda family and will be deeply missed.

“My colleagues and I would like to extend our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to both Regina and Anthony’s families and to all their friends and colleagues.”
