Waterlot hosts end of season Lobster Fest
Lobster season is drawing to a close but there is still plenty of time to get one last meal in.
The Waterlot Inn is hosting a spacial Lobster Fest until March 31.
Specials include a Lobster Salad with Avocado and Fennel, Lobster Bisque with Mushrooms and Tarragon Cream, and Spiny Lobster Thermidor with Gratin Potatoes and Vegetables.
The salad is $21, the bisque is $18 and the thermidor is $59.
Tom Houston, maitred’ for Waterlot explained the promotion and said: “The big thing for us is: naturally we run lobsters throughout the season as a special and considering we’re coming in the last few weeks, we decided to showcase this true culinary treasure in Bermuda.
“Rather than doing it as a capacity of a set menu, we decided to focus on three items we do extremely well.
“Obviously the thermidor with the spiny lobster is the focus.”
He continued: “If people come and they want the appetizer, they can have that. We are obviously a steakhouse so they can have steak as well.
“Or they could have the main course and pick an appetizer from our menu.”
Houston said a big part of Waterlot’s approach to food is sustainability.
“We use what’s in the area and what’s available. We use what fish is in season.
“We always want to support the local fishermen and we always want to be able to do that at the end of the earning season.”
Asked which lobster special is a must try, Houston said: “I would definitely choose the thermidor. It’s an experience in itself, eating Lobster Thermidor that way.
“The chef does all the work, so it’s very well presented. You’re not having to put a bib on.
“It’s a very elegant presentation.”
Houston said the Lobster Bisque was also a great option because it’s unlike any other dish because every part of the lobster is used to create the silky soup.
Lobster Fest is on at Waterlot until the end of the month. Reservations are required.
