Bermuda DJs rock the (Twitter) house (Update 1)
Seven of the top 10 Twitter accounts in the world are in the music industry.
In Bermuda, while there isn’t that level of dominance in the top 10, 30 per cent of the top 50 is either musicians, radio stations or DJs.
DJ Rusty G (@djrustyg) told the Bermuda Sun he uses Twitter “a lot to let people know the names and artists of songs I’m playing while I’m on the air at Vibe 103 FM, especially brand new music. People following me on Twitter can see the song name as the song is playing”.
DJ Genie remains Bermuda’s #1 DJ in terms of Twitter followers with 6,614 followers. He is #14 overall.
Other DJs on the list include: DJ Vibes (#25) and Power Girl Trina (#38).
Dj Vibes told the Bermuda Sun: "In my opinion, I think twitter works well for those in the music business because it is an easy way to let their fans know what they are doing and any new projects the artists are working on. Before Internet, all new music came out on Tuesdays. Now new music comes out daily. For me as a dj, I can let followers know when I am playing, where I am playing. It is instant and quick."
Musicians on Bermuda’s top 50 Twitter list include: Collie Buddz (#2), Fiyah Marshall (#4), Devaune Ratteray (#7), Twanee (#15), Torrie (#35), Propa (#36) and Kidd Classic (#39).
Kidd Classic is making his first appearance on the list as is David Rose Jewellery (#49).
Vibe 103 was the only radio station to make the list and checked in at number 19.
Fox news commentator and former WWE champ John Layfield remains in his unassailable position at number one with 464,000 Twitter followers at the end of February.
