Bermuda golfer Camiko Smith has been named the African American Golfers’ Digest Golfer of the Week.
The 28-year-old recently took part in the US Open qualifiers, where he failed to gain one of the few places available to compete at Pinehurst #2 in a tournmanet won in imperious style by German Martin Kaymer. Smith, who is based in Orlando, Florida plays off +1.9 and is a member of Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando and plays regularly at North Shore Golf Club.
He told the Digest of his love for Port Royal and added: “Growing up, I did not have a golf coach. I had a few tips here and there, and I am mainly self-taught. I am doing my best to emulate the swing of the best player in the world: Tiger Woods. I‘ve only recently started to get coaching on a regular basis.”
