Why not grab some two-fours and party like a Canuck this weekend, eh?
That is — grab a few 24-packs of beer and join the Canadians on Warwick Long Bay to celebrate Canada Day in style.
This year’s event kicks off at 12pm on Saturday with a host of family-friendly music, fun and games. Hosted by the Association of Canadians in Bermuda, there will be a BBQ, Canadian music, Canadian beer, Canadian merchandise, and, well… lots of Canadians.
Rocker and ACIB President Will Black will be singing the National Anthem at 2pm and will be performing and DJing throughout the day.
Then, after the anthem, there will be the cutting of the “special” Canada Day cake.
The food will be catered by Island Restaurant Group and includes their true summer BBQ sizzle line-up of beef burgers, chicken breast burgers and hot dogs with a bag of chips or spicy peanut coleslaw for sides.
Last year’s event attracted some 600 revellers to the beach and organizers are expecting similar turnout this year.
Will Black said: “We look forward to entertaining all our Canadian, Bermudian and ‘everywhere-else-on-the-planet-you-are-from’ friends this coming Saturday in celebration of our national holiday, Canada Day!”
The party wraps up at around 5pm.
Black will also be hosting a Canada Day special event tonight at Hog Penny. Guests of both events can make Canadian music requests via http://on.fb.me/1qKRzaO
The top three requested songs so far are Summer Of ‘69 by Bryan Adams; Life Is A Highway by Tom Cochrane; and The Hockey Song by Stompin’ Tom Connors.
Membership to ACIB can be purchased for $20 at the event and gets you two beverages of your choice and one meal selection from the BBQ.
