OBA inquiry could be revealed soon

The OBA has refused to talk about its inquiry into a donation allegedly made to the party by US businessman Nathan Landow and his associates in the lead-up to the 2012 election.

But it appears that the findings of the internal probe could shortly be revealed.

Transport Minister Shawn Crockwell told the Bermuda Sun that he believed the findings would be made public soon.

And he said he did not expect the investigation to reveal any wrongdoing.

Since announcing in mid-May that the party would have an internal investigation into the donation party chairman Thad Hollis has remained tight-lipped.

Efforts by the Bermuda Sun to find out the parameters of the investigation and what exactly was being looked at were met with no response.

And most recently an OBA spokesperson would only say the investigation was ongoing.

Mr Crockwell said: “I’m expecting the findings of the investigation to be made soon.

“My understanding is that we are basically there.

Adequate

“An adequate time was needed to be able to do whatever was required.

“I am very confident that there is going to be nothing untoward exposed in this investigation.

“The fact there is an investigation speaks to transparency.

“The findings need to be disseminated as soon as they are ready.”

The Bermuda Sun also asked Attorney General, Trevor Moniz if there was any indication of when the results of the investigation will be made public.

Mr Moniz replied: “You’d have to go back to the party chairman. I’m not in the executive of the party, so I’m not involved with that.”
