Sports chick: Double dose of finals drama

After weeks of intense play-off action, the stage is now set for the main attraction. That’s right, folks, it’s The finals. 

Teams are now four wins away from being labelled the best in their league and earning the title of champion. 

To get you totally pumped and prepped, here’s a quick overview on the next couple of weeks.

Stanley Cup Final

The puck drops on the Stanley Cup Final tonight in Tinsel Town where the Kings of the West will battle the King of the East.

The first couple of games will certainly be a learning curve for both the Los Angeles Kings and the New York Rangers. These two clubs have not played against each other in six months and have not faced off in post season since 1981. While the Kings are looking to hoist the Cup for the second time in three seasons, the original six Rangers are hoping to parade Lord Stanley down Broadway for the first time in 20 years.

The real story will be which team will sustain their speed and endurance over the course of the series and with 2449.79 miles of travel every two games. Either way, one King will finally be dethroned.

NBA Final – Rematch

The most anticipated rematch in the NBA Finals will tip off on Thursday when the Miami Heat will once again face the San Antonio Spurs.

There is definitely no love lost between these two teams, who are both eager to snatch the Larry O’Brien trophy.

While LeBron James and his sizzling Miami Heat are looking for a three-peat Championship in their fourth straight appearance in The Finals, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are hoping to dig their Spurs deep into Miami and extract some sweet revenge.

During last year’s Finals, the Spurs had victory in their hands but suffered an epic collapse in Game 6 that forced a Game 7, which ultimately cost them the Championship. 

Despite the Spurs rebounding to have the best record in the league during regular season, The Finals is a whole new ballgame and there is no doubt the best two teams in the NBA are about to enter into an epic battle full of subplots, animosity and fierce competitive play. This one is gonna be good.
