Camiko Smith made the turn at two-over par in the first round of final qualifying for the US Open at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland.
The Bermudian is bidding to become the first Bermudian to qualify for the major, which begins on June 12. There are 59 players at Woodmont battling it out for four spots at Pinehurst.
Smith got off to the perfect start this morning with a birdie at the first but he gave that shot straight back with a bogey at the second and then dropped further shots at eight and nine.
Update (1:20pm)
Smith finished with a six-over 78 after his first round. The back nine proved a tough stretch for him despite claiming a birdie on the 10th to get to one over.
But a bogey on the 11th and doubles on the 13th and 17th undermined the previous good work to leave him well down the field heading into the second and final round.
Update (8pm)
Smith cards the same score in his second round, to leave him 12 over and 47th overall. His round contained one birdie, five bogeys and one double bogey.
He ends the final qualifying 15 shots off the much-coveted top four spot.
