Dear Tony,
Hearing that the Bermuda Sun was folding last week felt like losing an old friend.
The paper gave me a fantastic opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful countries in the world for seven years.
I have great memories of the many fascinating people and stories we covered, but also of the many characters I worked with over the years.
I am sad and really sorry for the great friends and talented reporters and editors that are losing their jobs, but also sad for the country to lose a paper that was noted for its commitment to fair, honest and balanced reporting on the difficult and often controversial issues Bermuda faces.
I believe the Sun earned its reputation as the people’s paper and got under the skin of the community in a way that others did not.
Hopefully someone will step up to fill the huge void that this leaves in the island’s media world.
