Today the Department of Workforce Development and Bermuda Cablevision announced they are partnering to provide a television channel dedicated to showcasing available jobs in Bermuda.

By simply going to Channel 87, job-seekers can view a scrolling display of all of the open jobs from the Bermuda Job Board on a dedicated television channel. The channel goes ‘live’ today.

This will allow individuals the convenience of viewing available jobs and their closing dates (posted on the Bermuda Job Board) from the comforts of their own home.

“The idea is that if job-seekers see a suitable job on the channel, they can then go to the Bermuda Job Board to apply for that specific job online,” explained the Minister of Home Affairs Sen. The Hon. Michael Fahy JP. “This widens the employment opportunity network by allowing more persons to see all available jobs being advertised in Bermuda. I would like to express my gratitude to the Director of Workforce Development Mr. George Outerbridge for his fine efforts to ensure this initiative came to fruition.”

Bermuda CableVision CEO, Terry Roberson, says: “Our partnership with the Department of Workforce Development has reached an exciting milestone today with the extension of Project HOPE, which was launched at our gala in January. With the introduction of this new channel, information about Bermuda job vacancies will receive greater exposure than ever. Employers can easily reach very large audiences, while job seekers will have a new avenue via which to conduct their searches.

“CableVision is thrilled to make use of our network and technology to bring this new channel to a maximum number of Bermuda homes. We extend special thanks to the Department of Workforce Development for partnering with us on this initiative and we look forward to continuing our collaboration.”

The Bermuda Job Board launched in 2013 with the aim of becoming the country’s first National Job Board. This supports the efforts of the National Training Plan in that it allows the maximum outreach of employment opportunities and assists in matching suitable candidates with the right employers.

Any employer who wishes to have their job advertised on the Bermuda Job Board and Channel 87 should post their job online at: www.bermudajobboard.bm.

The page, which feeds directly from the Bermuda Job Board Database to the Channel, was developed by GMD Consulting.
