St Maarten

Divi Little Bay beach resort in St Maarten is now offering all-inclusives. It makes the third resort on the Dutch island to go with an all-inclusive option, joining Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino and Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort.

The Divi Little Bay offer will include all you can eat and drink and free WiFi. Prices start at $181 per adult per night and $63 per child per night for children six- to 12-years-old.

While in St Maarten, guests have a choice of 14 casinos.

You can find out more at www.divilittlebay.com

JetBlue

JetBlue is offering a 20 per cent rebate on your points when you use them to redeem flights, but you had better act quickly as the offer expires today.

You must use your TrueBlue points to book a flight between September 2 and October 31, 2014.

Just so you aware, you’ll get your 20 per cent points back four to six weeks after the promotion finishes on October 31 so don’t expect to see them in your account until December.

Vegas

The Venetian has started a comedy show featuring women called Lipshtick: The perfect shade of stand up.

The schedule currently includes: Caroline Rhea and Wendy Liebman (August 1-2), Lisa Lampanelli (August 8-9, October 3-4, December 26-27), Whiney Cummings (August 22-23, November 28-29), Joy Behar (August 22-23), Susie Essman (September 5-6), Jen Kirkman and Natasha Leggero (September 12-13, Jennifer Coolidge (September 19-20), and Loni Love (October 10-11). Ticket prices vary, but you can expect to pay between $50 and $100 depending on where you sit.

Grand Ole Opry

For those of you who love country music, you should visit the Opry in Nashville at least once in your life. The tricky part is it is difficult to book far in advance as it doesn’t finalize the full list of performers until shortly before the date. A typical Opry show will have multiple singers and groups performing a couple of songs each.

Some of the performers for August include Hunter Hayes (August 8 – also announced on that night are Marty Stuart and Sara Haze), Little Big Town (August 12 – also Aaron Tippin), and Wynonna & the Big Noise (August 6).

If you book way in advance, it’s a crap shot as you may get people you don’t like or never heard of. Or, you could be lucky like the people attending the Opry tonight who are getting to see Carrie Underwood as the main attraction but will also get to hear The Band Perry from the Nashville TV show Lennon and Maisy.

Fluffy

Finally, on a personal note, I’ve got tickets to see my favourite comedian Gabriel Iglesias, aka ‘Fluffy’ next month.

His first film opens in theatres today, The Fluffy Movie. The portly comedian is known for his love of chocolate cake and guests to his concerts quite often bring him one when they attend his show. I plan on taking a chocolate rum-flavoured one to represent Bermuda when I go next month.
