Commonwealth Games: Franklin to carry Bermuda flag
Today the Commonwealth Team of Bermuda selected Mr. Micah Franklin to have the honor of carrying the flag at the opening ceremonies for 2014.
Mr. Franklin was selected in a meeting of team managers, which looked at all athletes. However, some athletes eliminated themselves as they are competing early the next day and wish not to march. Based on the remaining athletes, the decision was made to choose Mr. Franklin who is ranked 155 in the world of squash. At twenty-one years old he is also ranked number 1 in his sport in the country. His hope at the moment is to win his first match in the draw and go as far as he can in making Bermuda and the squash community proud.
Bermuda Chef de Mission said, “As Chef de Mission I am happy to see this young man honored this way and wish him much success in the sport during the Games and after.”
