There was a brief tense moment as Miss Sandys Lillian Lightbourn and Miss St George Siairah Minors stood facing each other waiting to find out who would be Miss Bermuda 2014 would be.

Miss Minors name was called as first runner-up leaving Miss Lightbourn to wear the crown for the next year.

Second runner-up was won by Miss Southampton Khianda Pearman-Watson. Third runner-up was Miss Devonshire Cocy-Lynne Simmons while Fourth runner-up went to Miss Pembroke Lady Carmela Robinson.

Miss Lightbourn, who is currently employed as a model and has New York City as her home base, had as her final question from the judges, ‘What is one thing she would change about Bermuda?’

She was able to use her experience from living in the US to say “It would make a huge difference in our youth today if we teach them” to have more pride in Bermuda.

Just prior to the countdown to Miss Lightbourn being announced as Miss Bermuda, the pageant announced the winners of Miss Hospitality, the People’s Choice Award and Miss Congeniality.

Aspiring singer and The Reefs employee Cami Caines, Miss Warwick, won Miss Hospitality.

Cocy-Lynne Simmons, Miss Devonshire, was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants while the People’s Choice Award and Miss Photogenic both went to Miss Lightbourn. The Miss Photogenic Award was decided by a panel of photographers.

Premier Michael Dunkley who attended the event, said: “I want to congratulate Ms. Lightbourn for her achievement in being crowned Miss Bermuda. Each of these young women demonstrated such strength and poise during some high pressure moments tonight and they should feel very proud of their performance.

“The judges had a very difficult decision this evening, and I was very impressed with Lillian's overall performance. I am certain that she will go on to represent Bermuda with the same grace and professionalism that she demonstrated this evening, and I want to encourage all of Bermuda to support her in going forward.

"I also want to take this opportunity to commend the organisers of the Miss Bermuda Pageant, particularly Milika Trott-Seymour for putting on such a first class event which showcased some of Bermuda’s bright, young, wonderful talent.”
