The Carnival Splendor arrived in Dockyard this morning after being diverted to Bermuda because of Hurricane Arthur.
The Splendor was at Heritage Wharf before 7:30am and is expected to leave at 6pm tonight. The ship was scheduled to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The ship carries 3,006 passengers at capacity and, between fees and visitor spending, the short trip could mean more than $300,000 for the island’s coffers.
It was joined in Dockyard this morning by Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas.
Arthur was downgraded to a tropical storm and its closest point of approach to Bermuda has already passed. It is moving up the east coast of North America and is currently impacting the Canadian Maritimes with 55 to 60 knot winds.
