Aon's hitting cancer for six (update)

Wickets were taken, runs were scored, but at the end of the day, the real winner was Bermuda’s two cancer charities.

Aon hosted a charity cricket match yesterday at Devonshire Recreation Club.

The match was played by brokers and underwriters from Aon in memory of their colleague Ellvera Nusum, who passed away from breast cancer

The brokers played for PALS while the underwriters donned their whites for The Bermuda TB, Cancer & Health Association. 
The Brokers, captained by Anthony Calder-Smith, defeated the Underwriters, captained by Montpelier's Nick Lucking. 

Duan Leverock, organizer, said: "I am happy to say that the day was a resounding success for all that participated.  The Brokers pulled off a stunning win thus honoring the memory of their coworker Ms Ellvera Nusum.  Ms Nusum’s children were in attendance to enjoy the day of cricket and were well pleased.

"As a result PALS will receive a $1,000 donation from Aon Bermuda and The Bermuda T.B. and Cancer & Health Association will receive a $750 donation."

The Underwriters batted first and posted a score of 188 from 30 overs and were led by Validus' Mark Robinson who scored 30 runs, which was scored off of four 6s and one 4. ACE's Dwayne Adams had 19 runs while Justin Freisenbruch (RenRE) and Jon Hughes (Montpelier) had 13 runs.
Calder-Smith took three wickets in six overs for 32 runs while Warren Smith also took three wickets in six overs but for 28 runs. Fernando Paul had one wicket in five overs for 15 runs. 

The Brokers chased down the score with 191 from 23 overs with Marsh's Stephen Drake scoring a brilliant 58 before retiring and aided by Warren Smith's (Aon) 43. Noel Pearman took three wickets for eight runs in three overs while Mark Robinson took two wickets and Marc Weatherhill one.

Hector Watson and Sean “Bobby” Smith donated their time to be umpires for the match.
