The City of Hamilton today announced the creation of the City Tour Guide program, a platform for the instant availability of jobs for Bermudian culture enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.
The City of Hamilton has created a Tour Guide Program to encourage local entrepreneurship, in the hospitality industry, while also providing a service for the island’s visitors.
In order to operate a tour within city boundaries, endorsed and promoted by the City of Hamilton, Tour Guides must have a city issued license.
A City Tour Guide license is valid for one calendar year from the date of issue. To obtain a license, registrants must complete the application form, participate in a 4 hour training program, and pass the examination. Training for the Tour Guides takes place once a quarter, with the first date scheduled for Saturday, February 8 at the City’s Work Depot on Laffan Street from 9 – 12pm. Once a Tour Guide has successfully completed the application process, an official license will be issued. Tours may commence once the tour proposal process is complete and approved by the City of Hamilton.
Each tour schedule is created at the discretion of the Tour Guide. Tours can be scheduled seasonally or year-round. They can occur daily, weekly or bi-weekly. A detailed schedule must be provided with each tour proposal.
Tour Guide training dates for each quarter:
1st Quarter – Saturday, February 8
2nd Quarter – Saturday, May 3
3rd Quarter – Saturday, August 9
4th Quarter – Saturday, November 8
Deadline to register for the first session is Thursday, February 6.
