The Baltimore Blast came away with two wins from the weekend’s double-header.
We did a great job as a group, staying focused and limiting our mistakes. With the end of the season closing in and playoffs around the corner we still need to clean up some of our areas of play, one being our transition game.
We need to be able to transition from offence to defence a little sharper. To play the indoor game at a high level this is one of the things a player must focus on a lot.
It’s an area where we see many players fall short.
Going from offence to defence is important and needs to be done quickly both physically and mentally if you want to unbalance the other teams’ defences and keep them off the board.
This week the team will be playing away against the Syracuse Silver Knights – and it’s a must-win.
Syracuse has an experienced team and one that works very hard. They are in fourth place and will be looking for a win in their home field.
This week I also want to touch a little on preparation. There are three basic tips I would like to share with you to help you prepare for your task.
Assessment
Doing an assessment of what you are about your task is key, knowing what you need and what is required to complete that task will come only from doing your homework.
Let’s take a soccer match. Before I played any game I watched game tape of the team I am playing against and wrote down their weak areas.
I then watched the players that will be marking me and made notes on how I need to be effective against them. Then I trained all week on exposing these weak areas.
Objective
This is where you need to figure out what the
main objective is going to be and how you will reach it.
What you want to see happen out of your task will help keep you focus until the end of it.
Outcome
What is the final outcome you need to accomplish out of your task? Are you prepared to see this outcome happen? There are many that expect a different outcome without putting in the work.
If your outcome is to achieve greatness then I’m sure your assessment and objective will be demanding and will call for many sacrifices.
Do not look for a successful outcome if you know that you can not live up to the work that is required.
I really hope these tips help you in some way and I wish you all the best.
Until next time.
