A workshop designed to help event organizers undersand new guidelines for securing funding for tourism initiatives will take place next week.
The two-day event will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and has been arranged by the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
The move comes just over a week after the Authority took over responsibility for deciding which tourism initiatives receive funding.
The decision-making role was previously held by the Department of Transport.
The Authority’s chair, David Dodwell, said that priority for funding would be given to event organizers who bring a substantial amount of international visitors to the island and an increased awareness of Bermuda.
He added: “We welcome applications and hope that our new investment guidelines will encourage people to develop new experiences for our visitors.”
Under the new rules funding can be provided for on-island attractions and activities, events that bring in visitors or raise awareness of the island or schemes that connect Bermuda to its key markets through media exposure.
The two-day workshop will be held on January 30 between 1pm and 4:30pm and January 31 between 9am and 12:30pm.
