Bermuda’s gymnastics team has been named for a meet in New England this weekend.
A total of 14 gymnasts will be competing at the Abie Grossfield Invitational Meet in Connecticut from January 16 to 18.
Bermuda Sun’s Coach of the Year Duke Nelligan will lead the four women participating.
Danielle Wall, Clara James, Syndey Mason and Anna Francoeur are preparing for the Junior Pan American Championships, Commonwealth Games, and the USAIGC World Championship. All four of those meets are happening later in 2014.
Bermuda Gymnastics assistant head coach Mandi Baughman said in a press release: “Therefore it is a key stepping stone in our preparation for the rest of the year. In just three weeks, these ladies and six of their teammates will head to Chicago for another major competition.”
She added: “For the boys, this is the first competition of the 2013-2014 season, and the first off-island meet ever for several of our athletes. It will be an exciting event for the team and for Coach Magan Outerbridge, and will serve as a warm-up for the Mid-Atlantic Invitational held at the University of Maryland in early March.”
The boys team consists of: Max Blakeney, Taj Lowery, Niyan Outerbridge, Thomas Gesick, Ty Dunlop, Kai Lowery, Jaden Malpas, Nizeko Outerbridge, Jordan Trimarchi, and Cole Packwood.
