Police responded to a report of an incident at that took place at St. David’s Cricket Club a few minutes after 5pm.
Police media spokesman Dwayne Caines said: "Details are sketchy at this juncture, but it appears that a motorcade that left Somerset Cricket Club with around 20 cars."
He said that motorcade "entered the grounds of the St David’s Cricket Club just after a football game concluded. Upon the motorcade’s arrival at the grounds, it appears that a male threw a projectile hitting a member of the motorcade in the head.
"The suspect then made good his escape. This created a very tense situation in the area however a large police response resulted and there were no further incidents."
Mr Caines added the man hit in his head received injuries but refused any police intervention. "Police are interested in speaking with anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police on 295-0011 and inquiries into this matter are ongoing."
He stressed there was no disruption to the football match and the attack was no reflection on the St. David’s Cricket Club or the Somerset Cricket Club but individuals with preexisting tensions.
